Learning how to play chess has numerous benefits for children including improved academic performance, strategic thinking, and self-confidence. At the Prospect Family Inn, older kids in the Futurelink after-school program (ages 12-17) volunteered to teach chess to the younger children in the Big Brownstone after-school program (ages 5-11).
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) subjects are a key component of our after-school programs. As part of our fall curriculum, children in our Big Brownstone after-school program participated in Mad Science, where once a week children learn STEM subjects like robotics through a variety of exciting hands-on activities.
Children in our Prospect and Saratoga Early Education Centers took a mini-field trip to MUFG offices in Manhattan where they went “cubicle to cubicle” instead of “door to door” trick or treating. One of our goals at HFH is to make the children at our sites
