Prospect Family Support Center
Prospect Family Support Center, located at our South Bronx American Family Inn, is an invaluable resource for New York City families. PFSC offers wide range of free services to families in crisis, including overnight respite care, case management and service referrals, and parenting workshops and support groups. PFSC's mission is to protect children from abuse and neglect, prevent unnecessary out-of-home placements, and build stronger families.

HFH Summer Camps
Every year, HFH Summer Camps offer hundreds of New York City homeless children an enriching alternative to the hot city streets. Camps Kiwago, Lanowa and Wakonda, located on the lush grounds of New York's Harriman State Park, provide homeless children the opportunity for a fun-filled summer and an unforgettable outdoor learning experience.

Family Literacy
Our Family Literacy program, called Together in Learning (TIL), uses an interactive curriculum to engage parents and their children in learning.  Funded through a multi-year contract with the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development, and partnering with CUNY Creative Arts Team and FoodChange, the TIL program improves parent/child interaction by providing Parent and Child Together (PACT) time several nights a week. During PACT time, parents and children read to each other, write journals, and cook together. Using everyday events and tasks as hands-on literacy lessons, participants are able to recognize the value of education and are motivated to improve their own literacy skills while helping their children.

By participating in TIL, parents learn how to be better advocates for their children's needs. Through  math and writing classes, computer workshops, healthy cooking courses, book clubs, and knitting circles, they gain the writing, reading, listening, and speaking skills that will make a difference as they enter the job and housing markets.
