Ten students from the University of Wisconsin-Madison recently took an "alternative break" trip to New York City to spend the week volunteering at HFH's Saratoga and Williamsbridge Family Inns. The Alternative Spring Break Committee provides service-learning opportunities for students of any grade level wanting to see a different part of the country and serve the community there. These volunteers lent a hand in our Early Childhood Education Centers: reading stories, playing games, and helping children to complete craft projects. In addition, students assisted staff with finishing some painting jobs as well as sorting through and organizing clothing donations. HFH staff members were grateful to have such hardworking, enthusiastic, and dedicated volunteers willing to travel great distances to serve our American Family Inns. |
