Hofstra University Students Lend a Helping Hand

This summer, a group of freshmen from Hofstra University’s Discovery Program spent a day volunteering at the Saratoga. For their “day of service,” our volunteers played educational games with children in our early childhood education center and assisted in the after-school program. This thoughtful group was also able to help sort over a hundred backpacks generously donated through Volunteers of America’s Operation Backpack program. Our volunteer program relies on our college and high school partners that perform “days of service,” and Hofstra University is just one of the many strong volunteer partnerships at Homes for the Homeless.
